FS Artificial Intelligence: Planting "4 Little Trees" for Smart Learning

CIO VendorViola Lam, Founder & CEO
The Hong Kong-based FS Artificial Intelligence (FSAI) upholds the motto of “Smart Learning, Positive Mind.” The company has developed an AI-powered learning application—4 Little Trees—to create a better learning atmosphere for students. The application is based on a motivation model with real-time engagement and emotion detection capabilities that assess the user’s individual knowledge understanding, learning traits, and behavior.

The motivation model of FSAI’s 4 Little Trees develops the students’ interest and motivates them to learn while the emotion detection capabilities enable the teachers and parents to understand the students’ mental state to help them in learning. The “4 Little Trees” in this context represent the students, teachers, parents, and educational institutions which FSAI is trying to bring together to provide an adaptive and personalized learning experience.4Little Trees provides prediction and increases learning efficiency from 3 to 12 percent with customized learning. The application comes with in-built gamification features with coin rewards that lure the students to solve their exercises. FSAI’s application also provides knowledge to the teachers to manage their classes and students more efficiently.

In a class of more than 30 students who enroll for various courses, a teacher often finds it difficult to understand each student’s problems. Similar was the scenario in the government schools of Hong Kong where students were demotivated about learning.
FSAI collaborated with these schools and provided them with the learning app—4 Little Trees— allowing the teachers to assess students’ performance and help them learn quickly. The unique algorithms of the application studied the mental state of the students and identified when they were angry, sad, or frustrated while learning. This analysis helped the teachers in understanding the students’ reactions and their psychological behavior toward a specific subject. “The teachers were not very happy while managing the classrooms and found our app very useful and the students are now happy because they have a different way to learn,” mentions Fanny Wong Wai Yung, CMO, FSAI.

As the students using our app are motivated to learn more efficiently and happily, we want to adopt the same into the corporate training too

Under the leadership of Viola Lam, the Founder and CEO of the company, FSAI is working toward afar-sighted vision of solving real-world challenges prevailing in traditional education and has earned numerous accolades over the years. Until now, the company has assisted numerous educational institutions worldwide. The application is not only suitable for teachers and students, but also for professional bodies and corporate firms.

In the near future, FSAI looks forward to employing its core technology, AI for corporate training as well. For instance, corporates like banks and financial institutions have to be compliant with specific guidelines, and therefore their employees need to undergo compliance training, which they often find tedious and boring. FSAI thus aims to focus on corporate compliance training programs to provide personalized training to each employee. “As the students using our app are motivated to learn more efficiently and happily, we want to adopt the same into the corporate training too,” says Fanny.

Fanny believes that the company is moving in the right direction and in addition to the Hong Kong market, FSAI will also expand its footprint in the international market. FSAI is already gaining attention with its AI-driven learning software that has enabled it to realize the potential of AI. With this realization, FSAI will focus on the corporate sector providing AI-based compliance training. Initially, the training program will be focused on the B2B business and moving ahead, the company will develop its next AI-based application for the B2C market as well.
